Association between obstructive sleep apnea and pulmonary hypertension (literature review)

N.A. Krushynska, Yu.M. Sirenko

Pulmonary hypertension secondary to chronic respiratory diseases and/or hypoxia is the most frequent in real clinical practice. It is classified as World Health Organization group III pulmonary hypertension. One of the most frequent causes of pulmonary hypertension is obstructive sleep apnea. The purpose of this review is to analyze the literature on the correlation between obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and pulmonary hypertension: clinical significance, pathogenesis, proving the necessity of early diagnosis and summarizing approaches to the management of these patients.
