Diastolic function of the left ventricle in the clinical practice of a cardiologist

The problem of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in modern cardiology remains uncertain, which may lead to some difficulties in the diagnosis and treatment, especially in patients with arterial hypertension. This review gathers the most up-to-date data and guidelines on left ventricular diastolic dysfunction, presents some new research data in diastology, and provides some handy algorithms that can be used by a cardiologist in order to evaluate the risk of left ventricular filling pressure increase or heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.
